Hello! I’m Kate and I write about writing, creativity, spirituality, wellbeing, nature, digital life and the conundrum of how to live well in a challenging world.

Once upon a time my thoughts on these topics used to pinball around my brain, rarely making it to the page. Then I discovered Substack, began crafting them into essays, and learned that sitting down once a fortnight to articulate my thoughts, hopes and values in a generally coherent and hopefully entertaining manner is a huge help to me in my quest to do life. It’s also a beautiful way of connecting with other people. The amount of wisdom, compassion and curiosity contained in the average Substack comments sections never ceases to amaze me.

As a general rule I publish an essay every other Sunday. If you’re feeling curious but non-committal, you can read more about my Substack project here; if you’re ready to dive in, you can of course subscribe below:

If you’d like to read more of my words, you’re in luck — there’s a whole book of them available for your perusal. It’s a novel; Kirkus called it ‘an entertaining tale from start to finish’. You can purchase it here if you’re in the UK and here if you’re in the US. And you can read some of my other published writing via my website.

We’re all overwhelmed with things to read and watch and scroll through, so I don’t take readers for granted—thank you so much for being here.
