I think one way of approaching the idea of death is the Eastern view that sleep is a small death and death is a big sleep. Or Yogananda's view: death is Nature's way of telling you to slow down. I don't mean to seem to trivilalise our concerns, but there's no doubt in my mind that worrying about illness and death is bad for our health.

I love that way of looking at it! Eastern philosophy is no small part of my toolkit in my project to get over my fear of death...

I'm not frightened of dying, but would not like it to be slow and/or painful. What a cheerful subject!

Hi Kate,

you talk of ‘blunting the edges’ but not really getting to ‘the heart of the matter’ which I think we are saying is our existential vulnerability and mortality. There’s something you’re not telling about your own quest, but please don’t! Do please keep this ‘something’ in reserve. However, my guess is that your new ‘write ME!’ contains the very transcendental and psycho-dynamic dimensions in which you are looking for your answer and where the universe is trying to break in. Good luck with that, Seeker-after-truth.

Happy Easter

Danny
